What is sophrology?

Support that aims to restore balance between body and mind through the use of tools that are offered and improve quality of life and daily well-being.

Created by a Colombian neuropsychiatrist, Alfonso Caycedo. He will develop sophrology in the 60s by combining different practices inspired by relaxation, Eastern philosophy, meditation and positive visualization techniques. He sought to study human consciousness and find less invasive forms of treatment for his patients. He will draw inspiration from the work of psychiatrists, researchers from different backgrounds, philosophers but also relaxation techniques combined with Eastern philosophies of meditation and contemplation. We obtain a set of practices that aim at bodily relaxation and the development of body awareness

We act on the present moment and through repetition to lead each person to explore their capacities and their inner resources.

How does it work?

The method is structured by gentle exercises (4 maximum) which lead to a state of deep relaxation, a positive visualization exercise is added that will stimulate awareness and self-perception to help better manage daily issues whether emotional, mental or physical.

 

I invite you to discover a series of relaxation exercises that aim to release muscular tension and stimulate conscious breathing. These exercises thus promote deep mental relaxation.

 

By practicing these exercises regularly, you will see a significant improvement in your overall well-being and your ability to manage stress.
